This Portfolio Project is worth 25% of your grade. Completing this Assessment will help you to meet the following: Course Outcome

Imagine that you are the Coding Compliance Manager at Healthcare Systems, a consulting firm. Part of your job is to do quarterly training sessions for current and new coders. For your next training session, you will be training three new inpatient coders. While these new coders are experienced in outpatient coding, they have never done inpatient coding. You have decided to create a PowerPoint presentation for these new coders and for use in the future for any other employees who need additional training. This presentation will include the ICD-10-PCS system, the 12 major body systems, and ICD-10-CM chronic conditions, all essential topics and skills that the new coders will need
to know & utilize. Directions
You will be creating a PowerPoint Presentation with voice-over recordings on each slide. You will need to review and revise with instructor feedback and re-submit the finalized version for your final submission.

Week 2: Body Systems Part 1
Due by the end of Week 2 at 11:59 pm, ET.
You begin work on your draft of the training presentation. You will be defining six of the 12 major body systems of the human body on three (3) PowerPoint slides:
Circulatory
Digestive
Endocrine
Integumentary
Lymphatic
Muscular Each Module you will add to your rough running draft of your Portfolio Project. You will need to review and revise with instructor feedback and re-submit the completed finalized
version in your final submission. Week 3: Body Systems Part 2
Due by the end of Week 3 at 11:59 pm, ET.
You continue your work on your draft of the training presentation for your three new coders. You will be defining six (6) of the 12 major body systems of the human body on three (3) PowerPoint slides:
Nervous
Urinary
Reproductive (Provide both Male and Female)
Respiratory
Skeletal
Be sure that you include instructor feedback each Module to your final Portfolio Project.

Week 4: ICD-10-CM Coding
Due by the end of Week 4 at 11:59 pm, ET.
For this aspect of your presentation, you will be providing an overview and explanation of the diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus, COPD, and Hypertension. From your ICD-10-CM coding manual, you will pick one (1) coding guideline from each of the following:
Diabetes Mellitus
COPD
Hypertension. In your own words, communicate the guidelines for the diagnosis in a way that is easy to
understand by someone of whom this information is new. You will then need to find two (2) codes in the tabular list from the chapter your guidelines are from and use them as an example for the diagnosis coding. Utilize 3 to 6 slides for this section of your presentation. Be sure that you include instructor feedback each Module to your final Portfolio Project.
Week 5: PCS Coding Part 1
Due by the end of Week 5 at 11:59 pm, ET.
In this section of your presentation, you will explain the purpose of the ICD-10-PCS coding system and elaborate on the seven PCS code characters. You will also need to summarize how to create a PCS code using the PCS Alphabetical index and code tables. Utilize 3 to 4 slides for this section of your presentation. Include instructor feedback each
Module to your final Portfolio Project.
Week 6: PCS Coding Part 2
Due by the end of Week 6 at 11:59 pm, ET.
In this section of your presentation, you will need to provide one (1) example of a PCS code using the PCS Alphabetical index and code tables. Explain in detail the associated steps to create the code that you have selected.

This Module is the final submission of your Portfolio Project PowerPoint Presentation. Incorporate instructor feedback, make any additional corrections, and submit to your ePortfolio.
