HIS 100 Module Five Activity Template: Historical Interpretations
Replace the bracketed text below with your responses.
Identify the topic you chose to explore:
Human Rights and Inequality: Stonewall Rebellion
Describe how exploring your research question improved your understanding of the historical roots of
your current event.
As I explored my research subject, I discovered more about the Stonewall Riots' causes and the
extent to which they still influence society today (e.g., the relationship between society and the
LGBT community and the police). Many of the hardships the homosexual community
encountered before and during the riots are still evident today.
Explain how biased perspectives influence what is known about both your historical and current events.
A biased viewpoint, whether it be for or against something, only considers one side of the issue.
On the other hand, reading about the same incident from the opposing perspective can make it
seem like an entirely other event. It's critical to understand all facets and points of view when
investigating an event to acquire the whole picture.
Propose how the narrative about your historical event might change if it were told from a missing
perspective.
I would not have thoroughly researched how the homosexual community fared during the riots
if I had only studied how the riots affected the city and society. From this vantage point, we can
comprehend the incident's causes in greater detail.
Propose how the narrative about your current event might change if it were told from a missing
perspective.
If I had only looked into how far the LGBTQ+ community has come since the riots, I would not
have learned the history of the experiences that shaped where it is today.
