US. History Unit III PowerPoint Presentation
Assignment Content The American military was involved in numerous engagements following the American Revolution that established the nation’s reputation as a sovereign country able to defend itself and capable of expanding its borders to the West.
In Unit III, you have investigated American military history related to numerous military conflicts following the American Revolution
. Your readings have introduced and assessed many noteworthy figures related to these conflicts, the significant battles that occurred, the tactical and weapon innovations and new technology that emerged, and the final outcome or significance of each
event.
For this assignment, you are a history professor preparing a creative, professional, and informative PowerPoint presentation for your class
on three important military conflicts, wars or rebellions, that happened between 1786 and 1848. Please follow all directions. See an example below:
Choose one of the following:
War of 1812
Mexican-American War
Choose two of the following:
Fries’ & Shays’ Rebellions (1786-1800),
Tecumseh's War (1810-1813),
Creek War (1813-1814)
Your PowerPoint presentation must be at least 12 slides in length and should address the concepts listed below.
Content
Create six slides on either the War of 1812 or
the Mexican-American War (choose only one).
Choose two additional conflicts from the list above (three slides for each conflict).
Discuss the
innovations and new tactics and technologies
that directly affected the U.S. military during your selected conflicts.
Identify the expansion of the new United States west after the 18th century and the role of the military in that expansion
.
Communicate the following for each conflict you have selected: -
major event(s) (battles, treaties, etc.), -
leaders (from both sides), -
participating forces, -
causes, -
outcomes,
and significance (what changed if anything).
Organization
Ideas should be grouped together and transition smoothly.
You are required to insert additional information into the notes section
in each slide to communicate your thoughts and ideas thoroughly. If you would prefer, audio voiceover can be utilized in place of slide notes.
You must include a title slide (one slide), and a reference slide (one slide), which does not count toward the minimum 12 slides of content.
Quality of Presentation
Creativity and effort are highly encouraged and will affect your professor’s assessment of the submission. PowerPoint provides several options for developing an exciting presentation, including options for both audio and video components; however, customizing the method of delivery for the presentation is up to you.
Images, graphics, SmartArt, and/or backgrounds that enhance your presentation and make it look professional, clean, and visually attractive are required; however, do not allow images to dominate the slides.
