HIS 100 Module Five Activity Template: Historical Interpretations
Replace the bracketed text below with your responses.
Identify the topic you chose to explore:
The Creation of The United Nations.
Describe how exploring your research question improved your understanding of the historical roots of
your current event.
While exploring my research question I was amazed at how all the countries came together little
by little. Each person played a role in creating peace and an organization that still stands today. I
never knew the president of The United States of America had a hand in the creation of the
United Nations the way he did. Looking into my research question brought me to think of a few
other questions about my topic and some others like the wars after the United Nations was
created. It helped expand my mind to the history of the United States of America among other
countries.
Explain how biased perspectives influence what is known about both your historical and current events.
Everyone involved with the creation of the United Nations had a bias whether it was good or
bad. Each perspective is different, but all still lead to peace being created among the nations.
The people involved wanted peace even though they had differences. Peace was created among
the nations with a few bumps in the road still to this day.
Propose how the narrative about your historical event might change if it were told from a missing
perspective.
I think if the people of poverty told their story of the creation of the United Nations, it would be
another perspective and would be different. The people in poverty experience the world
differently than those in charge. It could have affected their household differently than another
that had some type of status in that era of time.
Propose how the narrative about your current event might change if it were told from a missing
perspective.
Today current events are posted all over the news outlets as well as social media. Nothing gets
by and there is a lot more awareness created to any event in time. We the people can now easily
contact our United Nations to report any issues we may have with another country or threats
against our country that prevent peace. The United Nations helped with the issues of 9/11 the
day we will never forget because we lived through it but each of us have our own perspectives
and views upon it. The United Nations helped us create peace with the Middle Eastern Countries
we were at war with.
