Type of Attack Name of Pre-9/11 Attack U.S. Response to Attack Analysis of Impact of the Attack Domestic Oklahoma City Bombing On April 19, 1995 a former US Army soldier Timothy McVeigh committed the most gruesome act of homegrown terrorism. McVeigh parked a rented Ryder truck outside of the Alfred P. Murray Federal Building in Oklahoma City with a powerful bomb inside that exploded at precisely 9:02am. This attack killed an astonishing 168 people including children and wounded several hundred more. The response to the bombing was immediate. The Oklahoma City Fire Department set up an Incident Command System that was used to manage the search and rescue system. President Bush announced the signing of FEMA-3113-EM-OK which essentially allowed for full reimbursement for all eligible response missions. The most important analysis of this attack is never underestimate someone. The United States organically assumed the attack was a terrorist plot against the United States from. Soon after the FBI started piecing together information that led them to the name of Timothy McVeigh.
Type of Attack Name of Pre-9/11 Attack U.S. Response to Attack Analysis of Impact of the Attack International USS Cole Bombing The USS Cole bombing was a suicide attack by Al Qaeda Where 2 pilots pulled along side the USS Cole at midship and detonated their bombs. The bombing blasted the USS Cole killing 17 American Sailors and injuring nearly 40 more. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) immediately sent relief to Yemen, over 100 FBI Agents from several divisions and task forces aided in the investigation. The FBI came to the conclusion that the attack was planned and carried out by members of the Al Qaeda network. Several members of the Al Qaeda group were suspected suspects of the attack including Jamal Muhammad Ahmad Al – Badawi and Fahad Muhammad Ahmad Al – Quso who were known to be operatives in the Al Qaeda training camps during that time.
