Production Project
Now it is your turn! You get to create a plan for the production of a new product. You may choose one of the examples provided or use ideas from your fictitious business from previous projects and lessons. Plan carefully to identify what is needed to produce the product or service!
Part 1: Research
Option 1:
Choose one of the scenarios below.
Scenario 1:
As a clothing designer, you see a need for a natural cotton t-shirt that is not only stylish but also comfortable and provides UV protection. You plan to buy bolts of plain cotton fabric and dye the fabric using locally sourced leaves and flowers. You have a team of seamstresses that will sew the shirts using industrial sewing machines. Once the shirts are produced, they will undergo rigorous testing by the quality control personnel.
Scenario 2:
As an auto mechanic, you notice that your clients are skipping their oil changes because services are only available on weekdays when they are working. You plan to buy a truck and stock it with oil, filters, and basic automotive tools. You have an assistant that will work with you to provide mobile services during the week.
What scenario did you choose? Scenario 2
Option 2:
Consider what product or service your fictitious business will produce or offer. Research what is needed to produce your product or service (include at least one input from each category of the factors of production).
What product or service will your fictitious business produce or offer? _______________
Part 2: Plan Identify each factor of production used in producing the product or service and enter it in the correct area of the chart. Factors of Production
Resources
Land
You need the land to either grow the leaves or a factory to create the clothing
Labor
Creating the clothing using the team of seamstresses.
Capital
You need the money to pay workers, pay for the building, pay for the cotton, and pay for industrial sewing machines.
Entrepreneurship
There is a huge risk that the clothing would not meet profit after all expenses.
Part 3: Reflect
Now that you have created your plan for producing your new product, explain what you learned.
1.
In at least two
complete sentences, explain any challenges or successes you encountered when identifying the factors of production. When identifying the factors of production, the scenario had already given me a great amount of intel to identify them. Such as labor it says that there is a team of seamstresses that will sew so that was my answer.

2.
In at least three
complete sentences, explain what production options you could choose for technology solutions, equipment, or office space, along with your reasoning for selecting these options for the product or service.
For technology I could use more technological advanced sewing machines or even have everything be machine made to cut out some expenses such as less workers to pay. I could also cut expenses by looking for a smaller factory that would still fit the machinery and not be a hazard to the workers.
Part 4: What to Submit
Review the grading rubric before you submit your final work. Your submission should include the following:
1.
