Week 3 Live Web Call Reflection
During the live call, the first topic that was discussed was regarding the requirements and responses for the discussion board. The responses should contribute towards a more engaging conversation. Additionally, the main post on the discussion board must be on the designated topic
and have a minimum length of 150 words. It is also required to post at least three times throughout the week.
During the discussion, the focus shifted to the week 2 quiz. We were reminded not to use Google to look up answers as it may not provide us with the answers that are relevant to our coding work. Additionally, we went over some of the questions from the quiz and discussed the appropriate answers. It was explained that the symbol provides information about the code itself. Furthermore, the plus symbol is an add-on code that always accompanies other codes and never stands alone. The add-on codes can be found in Appendix D of our CPT manuals. Coding modifiers are used to provide additional information about the medical procedure, service, or supply without altering the meaning of the code. The CPT codebook consists of two main sections: the Index and the Main/Numeric section. In the last question that was covered, we discussed the code symbol #, which represents a code that is out of sequence. These codes can be
found in Appendix N. When I read the question about the x-ray in the physician's office, I interpreted it the same way as the other student who brought it up.
The portfolio projects turned out to be another useful topic that helped me a lot. It is highly recommended that we use the provided template as it gives clear directions on what is required. During our discussion, we learned how to find the code for week 3 and discussed week 4, where we need to assign the radiology CPT code and the correct modifier. In week 5, there
