MODULE 3 ASSIGNMENT: WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE: A work breakdown structure (WBS) is breaking down a project into a series of smaller tasks. Primarily, there are two types of charts used to create WBS: Gantt charts and Program Evaluation Review Technique/Critical Path Method (PERT/CPM) charts. Gantt charts: is a horizontal bar chart that represents a set of tasks. It can show task status by adding a contrasting color to the horizontal bars. It gives the overview of the project’s status, but do not provide enough detailed information which is necessary while managing a complex project. PERT/CPM Charts: is a bottom-up technique as it analyzes a large, complex project as a series of individual tasks, just as a pyramid is built from the bottom up using individual blocks. These are more useful for scheduling, monitoring and controlling the actual work. With this chart, a project manager can convert task start and finish times to actual dates by laying out the entire project on a calendar. For module 3 assignment project, I chose the task – ‘Planning a wedding’ and will use Gantt chart to prepare the WBS. Project triangle: A project triangle consists of three legs – cost, scope and time. SCOPE - Arranging food, beverage for all the guests, decorating wedding venue and many more come under scope. TIME -- Timelines involved for this project 04-02-2023 to 05-04-2023. All the planned activities need to be completed in this timeline. COST – There is an estimated budget of 5000$ to cover all the tasks/activities like shopping, hiring vendors and so on of the project. Planning a Wedding Party
