Traditional view: “Conflict is the result of troublemakers and egoists.” Project organizational view: “Conflict is determined by the structure of the system and the relationship among components.” 3. Project organizational view: “Conflict may be beneficial.” Traditional view: “Conflict is bad.” Working with Executives Question 2: How should project managers react when they find inefficiency in the functional lines? Should executive management become involved? The reaction of the project managers towards inefficiency in the functional lines depends on the severity of the inefficiency. It is would be appropriate for the project managers to first assess the inefficiency to be able to know how to develop a solution. If after speaking to functional managers and monitoring the implementation of the solution, there is no change, the inefficiency remains major then reaching out to the executive management will be a good idea.
