Step 1:
Double-click the Autodesk Revit icon to open the software program. Step 2:
Click “New” under “Projects” in the opening interface to open a new project file.

Select “Imperial Multi-discipline” for the “Template file” and activate “Project” under the “Create New” tab in the “New Project” window. 1

Review the elements across the top of menu ribbon on the new project file as shown in the red box below: Action Item 1:

Click on the “Architecture” tab. Place the cursor over the “Wall” element to enable a pop-up window with information about the “Wall” element. You will notice that the title of the pop-up window says “Wall (WA)”. This means that typing “WA” can be used as a shortcut to create a wall. Step 6:
Click on the black arrow to the right of the Quick Access Toolbar links at the top of the program screen.

The “Properties” Palette allows designers to navigate the model, alter properties of objects and change the view settings. The “Properties” Palette is shown below.
Revit is driven by parameters which are contained in the “Properties”. Parameter values are defined as the properties of an object. There are two types of parameters: 1) Instance Parameter and 2) Type Parameter. Action Item 5:
Change the “Discipline” to “Structural” for the Floor Plan: Level 1. Click the pull-
down menu for the “Discipline” element in the “Properties” Palette. Click “Structural” as the “Discipline” and click “Apply” at the bottom of the “Properties” Palette. Take a screenshot of the
updated “Properties” Palette.
