TIM 172Q Project Phase 3
(due Tuesday 1 March 2022).
Project Phase 3 Deliverables
(please remember to use a structured problem-solving
process
in
all your work; a substantial part of each task needs to be performed by the team working together
as a cohesive unit.):
1.
Demand forecasting
for years 3 and 4. This task was assigned in Phase 2, but most
groups still have errors in their forecasting. Your team will need to meet to carefully
discuss and review your demand forecasting results, justify your demand estimates (for
quarters 1-8) and forecasting results (for quarters 1-16), provide comprehensive plots,
and error analysis; properly explain all your work; and draw meaningful conclusions
from your results within the context of the supply chain for your product in your
company.
2.
Cycle and Safety Inventory
for your product’s supply chain. (Part of this task was
assigned in Phase 2, and, if the previous work was correctly executed, you can transfer it
to Phase 3.) Starting with the network representation of your product’s supply chain,
create and implement a process for performing cycle and safety inventory management
for
at least three key subsystems
of your product; and for the finished product. This
task involves more than mere number crunching. You will have to clearly set up the
context, perform a complete set of cycle and safety inventory calculations, interpret the
results, and draw appropriate conclusions relative to your specific product in your
company.
3.
Financial Modeling
. Create a
comprehensive
financial model to determine the
expected
profit
for your product based on a five-year NPV analysis. You will first need to revisit
and justify all inputs used in your base case financial model, e.g., development cost,
production cost, etc. Then, you will need to use the base case to perform a detailed set of
sensitivity analyses, including deriving relevant trade-off laws for your product. Be sure
to properly explain your work and draw meaningful conclusions from your results.
4.
Project Backlog.
Each group has a backlog consisting of tasks that are either partially
complete or partially correct. First, based on our assessment of your Proposal, Phase 1,
and Phase 2 progress reports (Phase 2 will be available on Thursday, 2/24), create a
comprehensive time-phased “backlog table,” showing what still needs to be done on
each deliverable, starting from the proposal onward, to improve its quality; a due date
for the completion of the backlog on each deliverable; and who is responsible for the
completion of
each backlog item. Select at least two of the items in your backlog list for
completion in Phase 3
; then, complete and submit them in Phase 3.
5.
Create a well-structured
Project Phase 3
report, clearly explaining all your work. Your
report should be divided into 4 sections, with clear headings corresponding to the four
deliverables above. Please include a short
meaningful
summary at the top of your
report. Submit your Phase 2 report on Canvas on Tuesday, 1 March 2022 (03/01/22).
