SED 605
PLC “Aha” Moment Week One
After watching the recording from Week One and the introduction for SED 605, Professor Martin
explained the expectations and necessary resources for the course. Professor Martin explained that we will be working in groups for an assignment in Week 3, which if I am being honest, worries me. I am usually not one to enjoy group activities, however, this will get me out of my comfort zone and prepare me to become a teacher. The assignments in Week one has provided me with information and examples on how to create
a classroom management plan, which would help me introduce the expectations and needs my students
will need throughout the school year. It is important that this be introduced on the first day of school so students are aware and being consistent with the expectations. The working together video that Professor Martin showed us, introduced Co-teaching and working together as a team. This is beneficial to me because I am not currently a teacher, so I will be learning how to collaborate and learn together to teach students. Having the extra support will be helpful to ensure students are learning, and also being able to have support with behavioral issue students or one-on-one support. Working in Special Education will have struggles and this class will provide me with resources and techniques to be a successful teacher.
I am excited and motivated to learn more in this class and have joined the Discord group with other classmates to work together and help each other throughout this course.
