These tasks have been designed to help you demonstrate the skills and knowledge that you have learnt during your course. Assessment for this unit
BSBCRT411 Apply critical thinking to work practices
describes the skills and knowledge required to use advanced-level critical thinking skills in a professional context. This includes using methods of analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
For you to be assessed as competent, you must successfully complete two assessment tasks:
Assessment Task 1: Knowledge questions – You must answer all questions correctly.

Assessment Task 1: Knowledge questions Information for students
Knowledge questions are designed to help you demonstrate the knowledge which you have acquired during the learning phase of this unit. Ensure that you:
review the advice to students regarding answering knowledge questions in the Business Works Student User Guide

What are the characteristics of a critical thinker (List at least 5)?
Five characteristics of a critical thinker are as follows;
Self confidence in own abilities to reason.
Able to understand the opinions of others.
Able of facing own biases, stereotype and egocentric tendencies.
Able to be well informed about things.
Able to ask questions with regard to wide range of issues.

List six skills needed for critical thinking.
Six skills needed for critical thinking are listed below:
Observation
Research
Determining relevance

Give three examples of situations where critical thinking can be used in the workplace.
Three examples of situations where critical thinking can be used in workplace are listed below;
Being open to trying something new
Suppose at a strategy brainstorming meeting someone gave an idea of generating

we change but critical thinker seek more information about the new idea and would
think why the idea is good and what can be a different method for increasing sales.
Determining the right course of action
For example we can look at doctors and nurses who use there critical thinking skills to diagnose and start treatment as per the information given by the patients and based on their observation.
Controlling emotional response.

List four benefits of critical thinking in the workplace. Four benefits of critical thinking in the workplace are;
It encourage curiosity and enhance creativity
It reinforces problem solving ability
It is a skills for a lifelong and not just learning
It’s a multi-faceted practice.

Describe what can happen if you neglect to think critically
A lot can happen if I neglect to think critically like it may cause me to do same mistake again and again. I may take bad decisions that can harm myself and a self-growth , and it may results in loss of opportunities, financial loss etc.
6.
Provide one example of what can happen if you neglect critical thinking.
The things that can happen if we neglect critical thinking is that we can take a wrong decision or can make an unwarranted assumptions that can harm a person or an organisation that can creates a huge loss of the company or a self-growth of person.
7.
What is continuous improvement?
The ongoing improvement of products, services or processes through incremental and breakthrough improvements is called continuous improvement. It is also called continual improvement.
8.
Compare three different continuous improvement methodologies.
1.
Total Quality Management (TQM): It involves continuous business improvements over a time period. It is focuses on customer and driven by team work.
2.
Six Sigma Methodology: It determines the improvements by minimizing the end variations of the end product/service, while optimizing existing processes.
3.
Lean Manufacturing: The continuous improvement of the processes is done by identifying value, mapping the value stream. Creating flow chart and by establishing the path.
