PHY 101L Module One Intro Lab Report Name: Date: Complete this lab report by replacing the bracketed text with the relevant information. Photos Photo 1 [Insert image.] The following should be visible/indicated in this photo: Your name and the date Data plotted for wheat plant 1, 2, and 3 Axis labels with units Graph title Key or legend 1. Describe the results of this experiment. [Insert text.] Photo 2 [Insert image.] The following should be visible/indicated in this photo: Your name and the date Data plotted for rye plant 1, 2, and 3 Axis labels with units Graph title Key or legend 2. How would you compare the data in Activity 1 to the data in Activity 2? Although the data is essentially the same, just in different formats, the data in activity 2 was more readily displayed and provided an easier process to establish a trend amongst the individual plants and a trend amongst the plants altogether. Activity two provided a better visual perspective of the data, visual comparison between the data sets and is more easily edited. By establishing a trend within the data, we were able to view how strong of a slope there was within the data points and establish which plants and in comparison which data sets showed the strongest growth. Based on the corrected trend lines, which wheat plant grew fastest? [Insert text.] 4. Why do you set the y -intercept to 0? They y-intercept was set at zero to reflect that the data from the wheat and rye plants was based on seedlings, as they were started from seeds. This helped to reflect that the growth data was from a seed, starting at a heigh of zero, versus potentially using a sprouts that already head some height. It also helped to establish that each plant started from the same height and went through the same process.
