Types of articles I would find in journals in this program: The articles consist of disasters, disaster management, hazardous materials, natural hazards, terrorism and insurgencies, and international security. 2. Types of books I would use in this program: Relief supply chain management for disasters: Humanitarian aid and emergency logistics, Disaster Emergency Management: The Emergence of Professional Help Services for Victims of Natural Disasters, Telemedicine for Trauma, Emergencies, and Disaster Management, and other books covering disaster management, disaster recovery, and economic and financial impacts of disasters. 4. 7. Social media sites (if any) for this program: FEMA’s Facebook and Twitter page; Center for Excellence in Disaster Management & Humanitarian Assistance on Facebook; Disaster Response on Facebook Here is a closer look at one site. Federal Emergency Management Agency ( https://www.fema.gov/ ) is a government agency that is a part of the Department of Homeland Security, with a mission to assist other before, during, and after disasters and with goals set to achieve it. The agency states “leverage a tremendous capacity to coordinate within the federal government to make sure America is equipped to prepare for and respond to disasters.” This website works along with other government sites to setup insurance and applications for disaster relief, providing updated and accurate information for disasters, announcing emergency programs and plans in place with different governments, and publications on what people can do to prepare for emergencies. Reviewing the site, there is plenty of training and education conducted by a number of organizations, such as (National Preparedness Directorate’s National Training and Education Division (NTED) and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) National Fire Academy), and more. Using these agencies and professionals to conduct courses, training, and providing information to prepare emergency managers, first responders, and other members of the community for disasters. The site focuses on providing aid to the public, while only taking institutions and qualified agencies to share the plans and training conducted through the site. However, other news reports and coverage is also shared as well as community assistance provided the public can look into for more information and familiarization. There are videos and images on the website to provide quick information on programs and updates on disasters. The site is not just based conducting research and studies, however leaves those portions to official agencies, researches, and organizations. Here are tips for communicating in the emergency and disaster management field: Some tips that could be used to communicate with these communities would be between that of public speaking and academic style. Specific types of tips would be: Being as detailed as possible. Gathering accurate and current information, possibly backed with credibility or examples.
