What are the most influential federal, state, and local standards that affect emergency planning in
your area? How well do you think measures are being implemented? Where do you see the most
significant need for improved compliance?
The most influential standard for emergency response is there must be a
multijurisdictional, statewide, or even multistate response to natural disasters. When a disaster
strikes, many areas are affected. It takes the answer for local, regional, state, and federal agencies
to assume the duties that occur when an emergency happens. When a natural disaster happens,
there are no borders. Mother nature knows no boundaries. Rose & Aykens (2022) say a large-
scale disaster needs a lot of coordinated responses for good outcomes. These responses must
have a lot of support. If a town is short on resources, it is the responsibility of the other areas to
help the inflicted area meet its needs. FEMA is vital in getting an area the resources it needs to
recover. These standards are in full effect in my area. Severe weather has knocked out power and
done much damage to the city. The collaboration from cooperating agencies makes recovery an
easier task. From the recent disasters, if more money had been put into prevention, there would
not have been extended damage.
