Lab Assignment # 2 Assignment: You all have been put on a crisis team for your logistics firm. The team’s job is to come up with contingency plans to deal with unforeseen circumstances that can happen in our line of work. Pick two (2) of the following warehouse crisis situations and write a detailed contingency plan on how your warehouse operation would respond: Labor Disruption Significant change in demand Supply problems Information Technology downtime (i.e., your WMS has crashed) Material Handling Equipment downtime Natural disaster Your contingency plan should be very detailed, and include at a minimum the following: 1. Who is responsible for execution of the plan? 2. Where/How is the plan stored and communicated to the warehouse staff? 3. What are the timelines for action? 4. Are there budget considerations? (i.e., costs cannot exceed a certain dollar amount) 5. Identify and prioritize the risks involved for the particular crisis (what is the level of impact? Worst case scenario?) 6. Is there any training that needs to be done with warehouse staff to successfully execute the contingency plan? 7. Does the contingency plan have multiple levels of action? (i.e., if option #1 isn’t possible, move to option #2…if option #2 isn’t possible….) This is a scenario assignment, so I am not going to assign a page or answer length. Your assignment is to create a solid plan, so if I feel the plan is not solid it will be reflected in the grade. I do not expect an expert level plan, but at the same time it should be presented in professional fashion and in a manner where it can be understood or followed. I want you all to approach this as if you are giving it to an actual company and/or boss. I highly suggest you use Power Point to make your presentation and have a supporting Word document with each plan. It is also recommended you have supporting research and/or images or graphs to help explain your plan.

Grading below is for each plan. 50 points per plan, 100 for the whole assignment. Section Comments Points Presentation Was the plan presented in a professional manner? Does it look good? What graphics, charts, or maps were added to support plan the plan? 10 Structure The plan needs to be structured in a way that it is easy to read, and it flows from point to point. Good contingency plans are structured in a way so that people can follow them even in an emergency. 15 Plan details This is the plan itself. Does it make sense? Are they easy to understand? Is it presented in a way that doesn’t take extra explanation? 15 Resolution Does the contingency plan solve the problem? If I were given this plan could I navigate the issue without help from the planning team? 10 Assignment Submission: You do not have to turn your assignment in just as a word document and it doesn’t need to be only one file. I will accept Power Point, Excel, and PDF files as well. Please do not submit 20 files, but if you want to do different formats (ie handout or map to go with you written plan) you are more than welcome too. Also make sure if you are submitting multiple files to provide a table of contents or guide so I know which documents belong to which plan. Citation: Feel free to use research you have found, but make sure to provide proper citation. If you use cited material do not copy and paste. Make sure to present it in your own words. If you do not cite your sources that is considered plagiarism. Plagiarism: Turnitin proprietary software will be used on this assignment to review for authenticity. If documented evidence is found of cheating and/or plagiarism it will result in zero credit for all parties involved.
