Working collaboratively with internal and external partners is common in today’s businesses. The shift to remote work since the Covid-19 pandemic started has added several software solutions for businesses to consider. These may range from video chat and instant messaging software to customer relationship management software programs to file sharing. Select an integrative software solution that you have been introduced to within the past 3 years. Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words: Name the collaborative software solution and provide the link to the software’s website. How was this software solution used in your experience or how can it be used? Did this or would this integration meet your (or your company’s) expectations? Why or why not? When the COVID-19 pandemic started I was working for the security department at the North Texas State Hospital. Being a security guard, I did not have an opportunity to work remotely. However, I had colleagues in other departments that were working remotely. I asked them how they were accomplishing daily tasks and conducting their meetings. The one software they were using was Zoom or Skype. This was a fantastic way to stay connected with your fellow employees because you could video chat with them on important subjects. I found that with these two platforms you had to have the paid edition because of the limited free minutes. I changed positions and was introduced to Microsoft Teams. Video Conferencing, Meetings, Calling | Microsoft Teams I like this platform better than the last two because of the simplicity of the software. You could be added to a team and when a meeting was scheduled you could freely join and contribute to the team. In this platform you have the free range of instant messaging during the meeting with individual parties. With teams you do not have to log out of your account to communicate with another team member that is not a part of your group. You can have access to them regardless of where they are located. With teams you manage all your notifications and messages and organize your channels without having to sign into different accounts. I am a Microsoft person so for me this was an absolute no brainer. My immediate family has Microsoft teams, and we can all see if we are on and chat while we are at work. Most of the time my company uses this platform to conduct meetings with Human Resources in Austin and it works great in that it saves them the 7-hour drive to conduct the same meeting in person. I believe that it meets our expectations because all our computers run off Microsoft 365 and it is readily available for use.
