IT 4700 – Enterprise Cybersecurity Management
Utah Valley University
Fall 2023 semester
Homework #7: Cybersecurity Training Program
Student Name
Read through this entire assignment and then complete each of the eight required parts.
PART 1) – Identify problematic behaviors
A
behavior
is the way a person acts.
A
cybersecurity training program
is one way to help
improve cyber security behavior.
In one of the enterprises in which you participate, identify the three most serious insecure
behaviors (relative to cybersecurity) that you observe.
1.
Writing down/Word Document Password saves
2.
Password too simple
3.
No Antivirus
PART 2) – Define correct behaviors
Define the correct behavior for each of the three insecure behaviors listed in PART 1.
1.
Ensure that nobody had any passwords written down or saved not in a password saving
program.
2.
Put in a requirement for passwords.
3.
Make sure each device is covered by security programs.
PART 3) – Define learning outcomes
A
learning outcome
is a short description of a task, activity, or behavior that can be learned by a
person.
For example, “Each member of the Helpdesk Team will be able to restore an imaged
host from a backup.”
Create learning outcomes that support the behaviors you listed in PART 2.
There will be at least
one learning outcome per behavior and it may be necessary to describe more than one learning
outcome per behavior.
1.
To learn why not writing down passwords is not acceptable.
2.
To learn why a harder password is best practice.
3.
To learn why being covered by antivirus software is important.
PART 4) – Outline of training to correct behaviors
Create an
outline
of a training program that will teach the learning outcomes that you listed in
PART 3.
Your outline can be informal but please make it easy to read (i.e. use indentation,
outline symbols, etc.).
1.
Teach Cyber Security
a.
Password Security
i.
Password saving software
ii.
Importance of not writing down passwords
b.
Password Requirements
i.
Methods for creating a password
ii.
How often a password should be changed
c.
Antivirus
i.
Importance of antivirus
ii.
Different antivirus products
d.
Conclusion
e.
Testing
PART 5) – Create an assessment
An
assessment
determines how well the learning outcome is achieved after participation in the
training program.
An assessment should demonstrate the level at which the participant
understands the training and models the appropriate behavior.
Examples of assessments include
quizzes, simulations and role play, guided discussion, auditing, and testing.
Much of what you
do in school is assessment.
Create an assessment of the learning outcomes in PART 3.
Each learning outcome must be
assessed but you may create a single assessment tool.
For example, you may have one quiz with
questions about different outcomes.
However, an assessment does not necessarily need to be a
written document.
An example of an assessment for the learning outcome example in PART 3
may be to have the member of the Helpdesk Team perform a restoration of a host from a backup
image to assess how well the learning outcome is achieved.
In any case, you will need a written
record of the results of the assessment.
1)
Assessment
a)
Password Security
i)
Simple questions about password security
b)
Password Requirements
i)
Several requests to create passwords.
c)
Antivirus
i)
Attempt to download a file not allowed through antivirus.
PART 6) – Present the training
Present the cybersecurity training that you identified in your outline within your enterprise.
Training presented:
YES
/
NO
Date presented:
10/22/23
Description of presentation:
Presentation was given verbally and via hands on training on
a laptop.
