Definitions: IP address and DNS- A unique address assigned to each computer on an IP network so they can communicate with each other. Ex: 10.53.1001.2021. The DNS translates computer names to IP addresses (TestOut LabSim, n.d.). Server and client- A client runs on a server program. A server is what provides network service to the users and computers that are on a network (TestOut LabSim, n.d.). VPN- A VPN is a private network that uses encrypted links to provide remote access and connection on a private network. (TestOut LabSim, n.d.). Firewalls- A firewall protects a private network from the public network. They will block any unauthorized access to your network and provide extra protection from the public, untrusted, networks (TestOut LabSim, n.d.). LANs and WANs- LAN is a local area network and WAN is a wide area network. LANs have a smaller range than WANs.
