This assessment is in 3 parts: Part 1: Access and interpret industry and learner information. Assessment details Instructions Submission instructions When you complete this assessment: read the checklist at the end of the assessment to make sure you have completed everything keep a copy of all the electronic and hardcopy assessments you submit to TAFE NSW make sure you have completed the assessment declaration before you submit. Task instructions The assessor will use the criteria outlined in the following tasks to determine if you have satisfactorily completed this assessment event. Follow these instructions to ensure you demonstrate the required knowledge and skills. Setting the scene You are a trainer/assessor working in a registered training organisation (RTO), which provides training to individuals and organisations. This may be Solid RTO or your workplace. You are to design and develop a learning program to meet the training needs of a group of vocational learners for a client. Your learning program will be based on one unit of competency from a nationally recognised qualification. The learning program may be based on either: Option 1: Use the Solid RTO client records for Portside Council: Solid RTO TNS Portside Council (pdf) Solid RTO TAS BSB30719 Portside Council (pdf) For learners choosing Option 1 there are only two appropriate qualification choices: LGA20120 - Certificate II in Local Government (Release 1) BSB20120 Certificate II in Workplace Skills (Release 2) OR Option 2 : Use your workplace or an organisation you are familiar with that has a training need for a group of learners. This will require you to identify the skills requirements for a specific job role that will align with a nationally recognised qualification.
If you are using your own workplace, you will need access to the following documents: Training and assessment strategy Training needs analysis Identification of learner needs Requested change from an industry client Responses for Option 2 will vary throughout the assessment but must show consistency and alignment between industry, client and learner needs and the selected training package, qualification and unit.
Part 1: Scenario 1 Access and interpret industry and learner information Read all instructions carefully and complete all requirements of the assessment. In addition, refer to the checklist that your assessor will use to assess your performance and record your results. To complete this part of the assessment you’ll identify the learners needs and undertake preparatory research to begin to plan your learning program. Task 1: Identify learner needs Access Solid RTO TNS Portside Council (pdf) and analyse the training needs of the 3 learners provided on page 2. To interpret the learner data, use the following abbreviations: Not Yet Competent (NYC) training required to perform the job Partially Competent (PC) training is required to improve performance Competent (C) no training required. Task 2: Prepare to meet training needs You will research appropriate and available training products for Portside Council. Refer to the Solid RTO TNS Portside Council (pdf) and access the National Register of VET ( http://www.training.gov.au/ ) to answer the following questions. 1. What training package(s) are appropriate for the industry, learners’ work role and specific learner characteristics? 2. What qualification(s) is at the required AQF level? Include qualification code, name, and release number. 3. What unit of competence, within the qualification you have chosen, is the priority based on the client and learner’s current training needs? Read all instructions carefully and complete all requirements of the assessment. In addition, refer to the checklist that your assessor will use to assess your performance and record your results. Task 3: Document the learning program overview In Part 1 you researched Portside Council’s industry requirements and their learners’ needs by referring to the Solid RTO TNS Portside Council (pdf) . “Business Services Training Package is the appropriate for the industry. Certificate -II. Certificate II qualifications are located at level 2 of the Australian Qualifications Framework. BSB20120 - Certificate II in Workplace Skills (Release 2).
