Unit Summary
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to apply legal requirements to building an
construction projects of residential and low-rise commercial buildings. ('Low rise' licensing classification with reference to Class 1 and 10 construction and Classes 2 to 9 with a gross floor area not exceeding 2000 square metres, not including Type A or Type B construction).
Application of legal requirements includes the capacity to ensure compliance with all contractual requirements. A thorough knowledge of the application of current legal and regulatory requirements
is essential.

CPCCBC4009B – Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects
Metharom Construction (MC) plans to become a leading provider of housing construction and renovation services in the South-East Melbourne area. The company's overall strategy will be based on a continuing improvement process of setting objectives, measuring results, and providing feedback to facilitate further growth and progress. They have been involved in large scale construction for 3 years and are now branching out to residential housing. During this unit, you will need to take on the role of the site supervisor. Your responsibilities are to: enforce site safety plans, ensure all tradespersons are inducted before they begin work, ensure currency of project documentation, make changes to specifications to incorporate client requirements, ensure that any contractors are complying with site rules and safe work method statements, identify and correct hazards, ensure that the site is ready for each trade before they arrive, and have frequent toolbox talks to ensure that WHS procedures are known and followed.

Assessment 1: Conduct research and prepare notes. (400 words)
Research the licensing requirements set out by the Victorian Building Authority. Using this research, prepare a summary sheet that includes information regarding the licensing requirements for:

Sit for the assessment at the VBA. The assessment is a computer-based assessment which includes 53 online MCQs and plan understanding tests. The assessment will be founded on the National Construction Codes, Australian Standards for Building and Construction, Acts and Regulations.
Go to a meeting with an assessor from the VBA. The meeting may run from 2-4 hours
and will incorporate more arrangement understanding tests and inquiries regarding your involvement with Building and Construction. It's energetically suggested that you have arranged a portfolio that underpins your involvement in records, for example, OH&S necessities, Checklists, SWMS, Site Plan and Working Drawings with nitty gritty development timetables and gauges and a finished Domestic Building

Apply for enlistment as a Building Work Supervisor. Candidates must gracefully duplicate of applicable exchange testaments, specialized capabilities or proof of understanding, and might be needed to go to a meeting to evaluate their pertinent experience and specialized aptitudes.
Managers license requirements
Hold a White Card. You can apply for a White Card online, and it is mandatory to hold one in order to work on a construction site in Australia.
Complete a qualification in Construction Project Management from an accredited provider. This could be an Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction, Graduate Diploma of Construction (Management), or a Bachelor degree majoring in Construction Management.
Attain licence from the ABLIS by having the specified educational qualifications plus
2 years of practical experience, complete the application with details of your training, professional memberships, business operations and samples of work, and insurance.
Renew ABLIS licencing every 12 months.
Assessment 2: Prepare information in a document for the site induction. (Maximum of 500 words)
Prepare information for a site induction relevant to the project outlined in the project documentation. In order to do this, you will need to complete the following tasks:
