Kparkay Alvin Togba CSIA 459 Week 1: Building Block Technologies University of Maryland Global Campus Professor: Samuel Chun
Introduction The integration of new technologies is often done in order to improve the efficiency of existing systems in order to make them more efficient. When a new system is integrated with an existing one, it undergoes modifications so that it can be used with the existing system. Using the new technology, we can improve the security of the existing system as well as prevent errors from occurring in the future (Wolske, 2023). During this discussion we will be focusing our attention on the technological advancements that have been responsible for making significant strides in reducing the number of cyberattacks that take place. Building Block Technologies In the world of technology, this type of skill is commonly known as building block technology. The focus of this dissertation is on the working of components, and the working of systems as a whole (Wolske, 2023). Upon examining the new blocks as part of the various features that are comprised of a system, it will be possible to identify their roles, functions, and infrastructure. As well as analyzing them, they are also analyzed to determine the workings of the feature and how it functions. In order for a network to function, component parts such as servers, workstations, and personal computers all play a role. Software Building Blocks It is the programs and the user interfaces that make up the structural elements of a system. Essentially, these are the elements that make up the overall structure of the system as a whole. Through a combination of a number of applications offered by the system, a new feature is introduced to the system. As a result of these applications, users are able to take advantage of the new technology in order to implement the necessary settings. As a general rule, software-building blocks are referred to as the various components that make up the structure of a computer system. It includes the methods, the policies, the interfaces, the source code, and the implementation guidelines (Wolske, 2023). Flexible structures allow systems to adapt to changes in the environment, as a result of the flexibility of the structure. In the market today, there are several types of software available, including variations of the operating system (OS), third-party applications, and software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings. Among the types of apps available are both web-based and desktop-based ones. The company develops its own apps, marketplaces, and services in-house. As well as software-based utilities, such as routers, firewalls,
and software-defined networking (SDN), there are also many software-based utilities available today (BasuMallick, 2022). Hardware Building Blocks In most cases, when we talk about the various elements that make up a computer system, we are referring to them as "hardware components". Electronic components include switches, resistors, light- emitting devices (LEDs), and capacitors, according to Zhang et al. (2019). Hardware components can be used to implement the different building blocks that are used in software development in order to build programs. As a result, these components will be able to fulfill the requirements of the new feature that has recently been introduced. Hardware components that make up an overall system are designed with their own unique set of capabilities and functions, which are used to conform to the specifications of the overall system as a whole. Large organizations use a variety of hardware components such as standalone servers, laptops, and workstations, as well as a range of peripherals such as printers, headphones, and routers for communicating with one another. Networks & Communications Building Blocks The various components of a network are being discussed. These include the services it provides, the topology of the network, and the protocols it uses to transfer data (Kendall & Kumar, 2020). There is a close connection between the different components of a network. Both physical and virtual connections can be made between them. In addition to these components, the network offers all the services associated with them. The topology also includes schematics and blueprints for network infrastructure components. There is also an explanation of how these components are set up, as well as the design specifications of the different types of networks, such as wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), and metropolitan area networks (MANs) (Wolske, 2023). Data transmission between the origin and destination is enabled by the Network Protocol. Network protocols ensure that information is transferred from one part of the network to another according to regulations and rules. Every aspect of the data transmission is specified by the protocol used by a network. You can either send information in a large block or in discrete packets depending on the type of information you are sending. In order for this data to be transmitted, a protocol must be in place.
