What is meant by the term ‘client-server architecture’ and what are the advantages of this approach?
Client-server architecture is a specific type of computer networking that is shown by the relationship between the host provider, the server, and the receiving requestor, the client. In an everyday-life example, our personal laptops are the ‘clients’ that request information and services
from separate and much more powerful web servers. This is a highly advantageous structure because it allows multiple independent devices to work along with each other, without each device doing the same tasks.
Compare the client-server architecture with two other architectures. Include a description of the 3
service models defined by NIST.
Which cloud computing benefit do you feel is the most important and why?
Which cloud computing risk do you feel is the most important and why?
Client-server architecture is a type of computer network architecture that is common. When using a client-server architecture, there is one centralized computer that holds all information of the database. This computer oversees pushing out information from the database to all client used
computers. This makes the computer a server. With the one computer being a server, it is in charge of all security and network administration among all clients interacting with the database. Unlike client-server architecture, peer-to-peer architecture is known as a decentralized architecture. This architecture does not have a central device that oversees tasks, security, and network administration. Peer-to-peer architecture is used in smaller scenarios, needing less of a computer presence. If one computer goes down that has specific needed information, it will not be able to be retrieved by another individual’s computer. There are three service models described by NIST: Software-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, and Infrastructure-as-a-
Service. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) manages software and IT structure, users can access this service as a web browser. This can be things like Gmail, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office 365.
Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) consists of platforms that allow software developers to create cloud-based applications. The developers of these platforms are responsible for licensing the operating system and back-end storage networking. Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) allows users to rent cloud IT infrastructure from the provider. The client is then responsible for licensing
the operating system and managing the back-end networking. I believe the cloud computing benefit that is the most important would-be flexibility. Flexibility is a characteristic of programs that is very sought after. People want to know what additions they are going to have with computing programs. If it is seen that a program can be expanded or scaled to fit their needs, it would be a highly wanted program. I believe security would be the risk that is most important. If you are trying to store data into a cloud, there is always the chance of important information being stolen. However, if the security is up to par, the client should not have anything to worry about. Describe the DBMS MS Access.
How is the MS Access used in contrast to SQLite?
What are the primary uses of MS Access?
MS Access is a database management system (DBMS) created by Microsoft. Inside of MS Access, the user can create multiple customizable database applications with built-in features.
