I selected an article titled “Best sterile processing managers anticipate, collaborate, stay up to date. The author’s purpose was to help workers prepare for a joint commission survey and other unexpected challenges at work. The author’s target audience is sterile processing managers but it can benefit anyone
working in the operating room. The writer’s tone was informative because he provided sources for all of the information he gave. He established his credibility by giving information on his years of experience. “With more than 36 years of experience in sterile processing, I have seen many changes occur, and I know what it takes to be an effective sterile processing (SP) manager.” (Young M, 2014) One detail that stood out to me was the author repeatedly saying that all decisions need to be evidence based. This is important when making changes in the work place. “The Joint Commission states that all policies and procedures should be aligned with evidence-based guidelines and/or professional organization guidelines.” (OR Manager, 2014).
