Professor, Multi-scene or network investigations can be challenging for investigators. One of the challenges is related to traffic data sniffing. Depending on the network configuration and security measures where the sniffer is deployed, the tool may not capture all desired traffic data (Sadddam, et al, 2023). Another challenge is that networks span multiple time zones and multiple jurisdictions (Sadddam, et al, 2023). Network data will be available offline and online (real-time) which requires the ability to capture and analyze data on the fly (Sadddam, et al, 2023). The data may involve different protocols and may be huge due to increasing bandwidth (Sadddam, et al, 2023). An example where the involvement of computer forensic specialists would be in a multi-scene or network investigation is when there is a cyber-attack on a company’s network. In this case, computer forensic specialists would be involved in identifying the source of the attack, determining what data was compromised, and providing recommendations for improving security (Sofoluwe, et all, 2022).
