Hello class, This week we are discussing what cyberwarfare is. Cyberwarfare is a wide range of diversions that uses different systems as force against enemies (Libicki, 2020). "Although cyberwarfare refers to cyber-attacks perpetrated by one nation-state on another it can also describe attacks by terrorist groups or hacker groups aimed at furthering the goals of particular nations" (Libicki, 2020). We are also discussing what a network is. A network consists of two or more computers that are linked to share resources like external devices such as printers and CDs, so that exchanging files and electronic communication can be done. Two main networks are Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN). There are also Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), Wireless LAN (WLAN), and Wireless WAN (WWAN) (Green, 2012). There are many people or activities that can cause harm to a network. First, hackers are one of the main threats, because of their use of malware, viruses, ransomware, and other means to steal information. Many experts would say the biggest threat to any system or network would be human error. The second is not having enough people on the IT team, which can leave networks and systems vulnerable to threats and attacks. Another threat is not keeping up with changes that happens with hackers and systems. Hackers change the way they do attacks constantly and if a business or a normal person does not know the new ways then their network can potentially be compromised (Alsmadi, 2023).
