In one of the more recent discussions we’ve had we discussed what security countermeasures should be put into action for the most protection possible depending on the business. During this discussion as well as my paper, I talked about the importance of a password protected site as well as 2 factor verification. In this online discussion forum, 1Password Discloses Security Incident Linked To Okta Breach it talks about the complete opposite of what I believed. This password security company is known for protecting companies and giving them a peace of mind. Additionally, since their data was breached and compromised, it took the company over 2 weeks to confirm the breach in the first place. I think, had I known something like this ahead of time, I may have reconsidered my security countermeasures or perhaps thought of more ways to protect the back end of a company. Additionally, I thought about Apple Cloud and the data it stores, all of the user's passwords, usernames, credit card information and more. Apple is considered one of the highest levels of security for data (at least in my opinion), but with a breach into an actual password protection company, this makes me question its legitimacy slightly. The value of discussion boards in the IT world is indispensable. Too often I’ve consulted Stack Overflow and GitHub, both of which provide information to coders and IT professionals alike. It can also give additional information that may not have been thought of before, therefore getting other individuals “unstuck” with their code or issues they may have.
