The Islamic State  Focused on opposing and eradicating Shiite Muslims  Known for extremely brutal violent attacks  U.S. killed original ISIS leader, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in 2006  Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi took over as was an even more brutal leader  U.S. killed al-Baghdadi in 2019
