I have selected “Netflix Analysis”. I chose this one because I am someone who doesn’t have cable and relies on these streaming platforms to provide entertainment. How does the author of the visualization address the audience?
The author of the visualization addresses the audience by adding in the Netflix logo and colors. The dashboard shows the summary of releases and contributions by the country towards Netflix. They also added in a separate section of TV shows and Movies which displays all the factors related to it.
How is the purpose of the visualization conveyed?
The purpose is conveyed through using data to provide you with information regarding total tv shows and movies, releases by year along with data on other countries towards Netflix. If you click on TV shows it brings you to a page where you can choose a show from the provided drop down menu. From there it provides the information for total ratings and a quick intro on the show. For movies you can also do the same thing. The author adds in the number of TV shows by country, and which is numbered 1-24. If you were to click on one of the countries it provides you with the number of tv shows. How does the visualization use color, ordering, layout, and hierarchy to prioritize information?
The author uses visualization by bar graphs that have a lot of color to separate the data, structure, hierarchy and to prioritize the information. They also separate out TV shows from movies to display those factors. They then break it down into sections for ratings, total movies added by year, top categories, number of movies by country and top directors. References:
