Driver’s Privacy Protection Act (1994) Prohibits the use or release of personal information obtained by state DMVs in motor vehicle records. Any person(s) who has used a state DMV or registered with a local DMV The Attorney General of the U.S. ensures compliance alongside heads of state DMVs and all local DMV locations E-Government Act (2002) Established the Office of Electronic Government which was established to create IT policies, standard and guidelines. This act also created the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). FISMA works with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to develop IT security standards, risk levels, risk assessment and expanded agency reporting. Anyone with information or data stored in a government system Federal Chief Information Officers Council and general compliance officers Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act An act created in response to the 2008 economic recession in which it sought to promote economic recovery by preserving jobs, creating new ones, creating avenues of assistance for those affected by the recession and infrastructure investments aimed to stabilize state and local budgets. Helped bring healthcare information into the more modern and digitalized age instead of paper records, for example.
