Topic 1 DQ 1
Research a local environmental law. Provide the following details about the law:
What is it designed to protect, when was it implemented, and what are some consequences for violating
it? In what ways is it effective?
In what ways is it not?
How can it be more effective?
I chose the clean water act, which is the act that ensures our water is safe to drink, it was created in 1948. However, it has evolved over time, if broken a person may face up to 5 years in prison or a very large fine which only increases by the day. This act is effective by it creates protection for people from the dangers of polluted water, and it also creates safer drinking water for people to use. Some ways it is not effective are because some points have an agricultural runoff, which creates pollution in the water making it unsafe for humans. I believe this act could become more effective by having testing on the water more often to prevent the dangers of having unsafe water being distributed.
