A system in criminal justice is a part of the criminal justice system that has it’s on task. It consists of the police, court and corrections. These 3 are systems that deal with their own part of justice. The police mainly controls and prevents crimes, court sentences those who have commit crimes and got caught by the police and those people that got sentenced will be sent to corrections.

Why is the criminal justice wedding cake model more realistic than a linear model depicting the criminal justice system?
The wedding criminal justice wedding cake model is more realistic than a linear model as there are different types and levels of crimes. These crimes or offenses vary from how severe they are and with a linear criminal justice system people can be tried unfairly because they can get a punishment that does not
fit their offense. But with the wedding cake model it is easier to categorize crimes and give suitable punishments and apply the right law to these crimes.

What are the major elements of Packer's crime control model and the due process model? Explain in details.
Crime control model:
The crime control model's main purpose is to protect society from crimes. It focuses on suppressing criminal activity and controlling crimes quickly. This does take away from people their individual rights. Presumption of guilt is one of the elements and makes it so you are guilty until proven innocent. In this model the criminal justice system wants fast trials and convictions, that could be seen as an assembly line. This means that it wants trials and convictions to get fast and smoothly. These convictions and judgements are final and solving cases should be prioritized to show how important keeping to the rules is and scare away potential offenders. At last processes can be treated less fair if necessary, so that the process can be get over with faster. Examples of this are less legal procedures or the use of shortcuts.
Due Process Model:
This model is focused on the individual rights of the people. All criminal justice processes should be done fair and following all constitutional principles. In this model you are presumed innocent until proven guilty, you are deemed guilty when prosecution has proved that you are guilty. The process itself focuses more on fairness and the use of legal safeguards, unlike the crime control model that wants everything to go fast. The legal safeguards consist of: fair hearings, right to legal representation
and the exclusion of unlawfully obtained evidence. Judges can also make different and independent decisions based on the case they are partaking in. In the due process model the police are also strictly controlled. They are not allowed to abuse their power and evidence gained in an unlawful way by the police will not be used to protect the defendant's rights.

Why are minority groups targeted more by law enforcement than White Americans? Please research current information to explain your answer.
Racial profiling is a big reason why minorities are being targeted more by law enforcement then white Americans. Police targets people from certain racial and ethnic groups for investigation without proper legal justification. Instead of looking at behavior they make race based assumptions. That is because some
people say that minorities are predisposed to criminality even though research shows that this is obviously
not the case.
