Explain why vocabulary development is so important. To read comprehension, vocabulary word knowledge is essential. Young students will comprehend the material better the more words they are familiar with. The student's capacity to pick up new vocabulary will rise when a range of efficient teaching techniques are employed. Lack of decoding skills, lack of reading practice, and overly difficult material greatly impact a child's ability to develop the automaticity necessary to develop higher-order cognitive skills.
