Introduction Culturally responsive teaching is a research-based approach to teaching. It connects students’ cultures, languages, and life experiences with what they learn in school. These connections help students access rigorous curriculum and develop higher-level academic skills. Culturally responsive learning environment is a place where everybody belongs. It is a place where the posters and images on walls, books and materials on shelves, the furniture and flow of the space all radiate belonging. PAGE 3
