Guiding Questions

What do teachers need to know about language, and why do they need to know it?
For teachers to more effectively understand their students they must know the
structure of English and the structure of other languages. The meaning of
knowing a language is to know the Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics,
Pragmatics.

How can knowledge of language help teachers to “ think linguistically” about their
students curriculum and classroom instruction?
With teachers dealing with a diverse range of students being able to recognize,
value, and draw on the student's home language can be used as a resource in
teaching and learning. Needing to know it is important because it helps the
teacher ability in selecting or modify the language used in lessons.

What does it mean to “know a language”
For someone to know a language or if one is communicatively competent is all
