Cons: teaching doesn’t match curriculum, student out of the classroom and no teacher responsibility. Cons: teacher, certification, curriculum focus on ESL understanding, and not for normal students. Sheltered immersion Pros: certified teachers, native language, teachers normalized in English education. Cons: is a short program and not enough language learned. Newcomer program Pros: trained teachers, native language, full educational support, sheltered instructions, personalized instructions. Cons: segregating ELLs together, lack of content area instruction. Submersion Pros: forced to learn English. Places learners in ordinary classrooms where the majority speaks English. Cons: not full understanding or tailored teaching. Sink or swim type of situation. e By following Baker’s typology to their curriculum. One example of typology consist of grouping languages based on the order in which the subject, object, and a verb appear in a typical sentence.
