evidence Based Practices are Key Probably one of the most important tools in recent times to ensure the best possible care for children with exceptionalities is the utilization of evidence-based practices. As a registered behavior technician, life skills coordinator, and Person-Centered Thinking/Planning instructor for children with IDD and behavioral issues, it is my job to understand everything about them so I can assist them in living their best life. Bateman’s text states, “evidence-based interventions have proven to be effective at producing results and improving outcomes when implemented (Bateman & Yell, 2019, p. 80). By taking the time to read each behavior plan, IEP, and other available resources, as well as speaking directly to the individual I can (A) Utilize all available evidence, (B) consider any clinical and historical information on the individual, and (C) body my plans for growth and assist the individual with creating a future that they choose by getting to the core of what is important to and for them to live their very best life. In my agency evidence-based practices (EBP) are absolutely encouraged as without them we would be guessing what care is most effective and essentially just using prior knowledge or using a one-size-fits- most approach to care which can be detrimental to the success of children in special ed, residential and other types of care facilities as they will not get the appropriate care required to offer the best success. The effectiveness of EBP across the board is increasing the levels in which exceptional children are receiving better care and are having a better opportunity at a future as they are being heard and on the whole, being given more chances to succeed by assessing the individual needs and what they desire for THEIR future, not someone else’s idea on their future. People instructed in the care of exceptional children are challenged by not getting the whole story for case managers or families or even support staff and doctors as they may feel that some things may not be as important to share with teachers and administrators as a primary diagnosis or other medical/psychological issues, such as trauma and historical issues in the child’s life such as possible abuse or abductions and such but truth be told this is the evidence that will ultimately allow for trust to be built and growth to happen for the student and those involved in their life. It is my belief that every education professional and individual in the care of exceptional children nationwide should attend a Person-Centered Thinking class to learn how to support those in their care to have positive controller over their life at every level and in every aspect. The way this happens is to have open communication that is clear and understood by all parties involved in the life of the child, thus guaranteeing the success of EBP in and for the child and their circle of support. We must take the true and powerful word of God for ultimate truth wh
