’
s Wear Case Questions: 1.
Without considering the changes in production and sales, which one(s) of the transportation companies will you sign contract with for these four markets? The shipment sizes range from 100 lbs. to 1,000 lbs., with a number of shipments to 4 different destinations. There are four different trucking and transportation companies that help with the shipment of the products. Considering sales and production being the same, I would choose Chase Trucking Ltd. as they focus on two kinds of shipment: less than 1,000 lbs. and 1,000 lbs. as per Leaf Men's Wear. The costs allocated are comparatively lower than those of the other transportation companies. As per the given data, with the maximum truck load being 1000 lbs, Chase Trucking Ltd. is therefore fit and henceforth willing to sign the contract for all four markets. International trucking focuses on the minimum truck load, full or half truck load, henceforth being expensive as per the distance to different destinations. The Transverse Shipping Corp. has a range from 0 to greater than 1000 lbs, with significantly higher costs compared to Chase. Range Express Ltd. has the same range as Transverse but even higher costs. Total number of shipments to Vancouver= (5x100) +(4x200) + (4x500)+ (4x1000) - 500+800+2000+4000 =7300 lbs Total number of shipments to Edmonton= (4x100) +(4x200) +(5x100) = 400+800+2500 = 3700 lbs Total number of shipments to Winnipeg=(4x100) +(4x200) +(2x500) + (2x1000) =400+800+1000+2000 =4200 lbs Total number of shipments to Montreal= (2x100) +(4x200) + (2x500) =200+800+1000 =2000 lbs Total number of shipments to Windsor=(2x100) +(3x200) +(3x500) =200+600+1500 =2300 lbs Four shipping organizations Transportation cost (dollar per cut) Chase Trucking Ltd Vancouver=73 x $15.947300lbs = 7300/100 = 73 cut) =$1163.62 Edmonton=37* $13.84(3700lbs = 3700/100 = 37 cut) =$512.08
