A Debrief of a PESTEL Analysis of Tesla Abby Flaugh, Crystal Nguyen, Maathir Al Harthy, Wiam Ambusaidi, Asila
In what ways is the political factor of PESTEL favorable for Tesla?
There are many ways in which the political environment around Tesla is favorable for the
proposed launch of Cyberstuck. One of the main reasons for this is the fact that purchasing a Tesla vehicle often comes with side perks, such as qualifying for particular tax credits. With the clear environmental pros Tesla offers (including operating on a combination of electricity and gas), it is easy for the political sphere to greatly push the use of Tesla cars, and as such, taxpayers
have the privilege to enjoy several tax credits just in their ownership of a Tesla car. In some states, you may even be credited as much as $5,000 when you purchase an electric car (
Tesla PESTEL Analysis, 2022
). This incentive makes it easy for Tesla to advertise their product and as
such, find quick and simple success in the launch of Cybertuck.
In what ways is the economic factor of PESTEL favorable for Tesla?
The economic environment surrounding Tesla is also favorable to the proposed launch of Cyberstuck. Over the past several years, the strength and fusion of the global economy have constantly been on the rise, so much so that it has been estimated the world economy will grow by 3.5% over the next ten years. This economic growth is particularly strong in Asia, Europe, and the United States, and has caused a jump in electronic developments, increasing the market for electric cars by nearly 30% (
Tesla PESTEL Analysis, 2022
). Having such technological developments would be an encouraging sign for the launch of Cybertruck, as they would have greater assurance that they would be able to at least break even, if not make a large profit and most importantly, they know they have a strong target audience who is interested in the product and willing to pay a good sum of money for it.
In what ways is the social factor of PESTEL favorable for Tesla?
Tesla benefits from the favorable societal factor in the PESTEL framework in multiple ways. To begin with, the company has leveraged the changing societal norms and inclinations towards environmentally friendly transportation. There's a growing consumer emphasis on sustainability and ecological consciousness, which aligns with Tesla's electric vehicle offerings. Moreover, Tesla's adeptness in comprehending and adjusting to these evolving social dynamics has provided it with a competitive advantage in the market (Frue, 2019).
Tesla takes advantage of the beneficial social factor identified in the PESTEL analysis through its alignment with evolving consumer preferences and behaviors. As society increasingly
prioritizes environmental awareness, Tesla's electric vehicles and renewable energy solutions gain significant traction. This alignment with societal values enhances Tesla's brand appeal and competitive standing in the market, ultimately playing a pivotal role in its overall success.
In what ways is the technology factor of PESTEL favorable for Tesla?
It is well known that technology is highly favorable for Tesla to consider when launching
the cybertruck. Tesla has fundamental technology pillars for the vehicle to process the excessive real-world dataset. Considering the launch of the cyber truck, with Tesla's long-range electric performance and progressive Artificial intelligence features, it is a crucial factor that Tesla might
consider developing even further to ensure safety and satisfy customer experience as the vehicle is going big. Developing battery technologies is another aspect Telsa should aim for, as the car is now developed into a truck which requires more energy and capability. Tesla’s advanced technology is able to improve the momentum of the battery life of the vehicle, carrying the most advanced energy storage system. Although it must be put into a test for the truck. Post research it has been shown that a couple of Tesla’s model's batteries were built to protect any minimum rollover risk (Telsa, 2023). Accordingly, Tesla consumers are much more likely to continue with their purchases and look forward to the launch of the cybertruck with trust. Although companies might manipulate Tesla's technology features, tesla still has its name brand up top.
In what ways is the environmental factor of PESTEL favorable for Tesla?
Environmental factors of PESTEL are essential in Tesla's company when designing and launching new products. This is where Tesla’s strength lies as they focus more on marketing their vehicles based on an environmentally friendly strategy, using electricity instead of gas and other energy sources. When launching the new cyber truck, Tesla must consider the ecological factors that might affect the production of their new product, which include climate change and resource scarcity. Increasing awareness and knowledge of climate change forces Tesla to consider its design of the cyber truck by designing it specifically to address climate change issues by reducing greenhouse gas emissions which is Tesla's number one goal (
Ferro, 2020)
.However, this favors Tesla as it uses another alternative energy source which is electricity by offering sustainable environmental alternatives to traditional energy sources that affect the environment.
Additionally, over the course of years, Tesla has been excellently providing modern advanced technology and a favorable price for the aim or goal of being eco-friendly and solving the problem of global environmental pollution (Zhou, 2023). Tesla's strategy when launching the Cyber truck should focus on reducing environmental degradation using appropriate strategies, and raw materials that are environmentally friendly. Tesla will make more profits and reduce air pollution by using energy efficiently when designing their cyber truck.
In what ways is the legal factor of PESTEL favorable for Tesla?
Legal factors can significantly impact Tesla. An important legal factor is environmental regulations, which help Tesla take the lead in electric vehicle manufacturing. Compliance with emissions standards and environmental impact assessments is important, which encourages consumers to choose Tesla electric vehicles over conventional gasoline vehicles. Tesla must also adhere to safety standards and regulations for its vehicles, particularly those related to its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving technologies. Another legal factor is intellectual property. Tesla's innovations in battery technology, electric vehicles, and autonomous driving systems could create valuable intellectual property. Protecting these innovations through patents, trademarks, and trade secrets is important. However, Tesla could also face patent disputes with competitors or other entities claiming

Samantha, a boutique owner in Paris, offers a line of expensive perfumes. Recently, after completing a class in international business, she began advertising and selling her product through online media in the United States. Presently, Samantha does not speak fluent English and relies on her a couple of bilingual friends and, increasingly, Google translate to managing her US business activity.
Recently, she ran an ad in the Unites States with the header “Le meilleur eau du toilette.” Quite quickly, Samantha was confused, but understanding why the ad was receiving a negative response; some people posted her out to me inside, pointing out the foolishness of it.
Unbeknownst to Samantha, directly to Americans, the ad advertised “The best water in the toilet,” and not “the best perfume”.
Even though “eau du toilette” means perfume in French, in the United States it was, shall we say, a bit off.
In the broad scheme of cultural interpretation, one would classify this scenario as an…

Similar to Coca-Cola and Nike, Hollywood megastars represent global brands in their own right. Although the market is booming, it is characterized by intense competition and rapid technological development. Ericsson – the manufacturer on mobile phone handsets – has recently seen its market share drop within this growing market. These difficulties are largely attributed to the delay in launching a key product (The T28). The company is quoted as stating that the T28 was nearly a year late and that they had to cancel the T36 because it had only a short market life. Such delays caused Ericsson to miss out on demand for low-cost handsets aimed at the expanding pre-pay mobile phone market.
From the SCENARIO above discuss the activities at the commercialization stage of the product life cycle and their implication to Ericsson.
Explain Strategy options that Ericsson may have pursued.
Why is the technological environment such a dramatic force in today's market? Support your arguments with the scenario above.
