Wendi Maqueda Math 134/34 Prof. Adams February 20, 2022 Lab 3 Graphing Quantitative Data & Summary Stats P Wt r——— 1. What is the shape of the histogram for each of the 3 quantitative data columns? Be specific and make sure your shape aligns with a comparison against the mean and median for that data column. For the players height, the histogram is right skewed as it rises then goes back low and continues to go lower. For players weight, the histogram is bell shaped as the rise is directly in the middle of the data. For players age, the histogram is like players
weight appearing bell shaped as there is higher data in the middle of the graph. The placement of the mean and median is placed directly at the rise. Players heigh is more to the left and the other two are directly or close to the middle of the graphs. 2. For each of those quantitative data columns, do you think the shape would be the same for the adult American population? Why or why not? (Be detailed in your response, and keep in mind that the shape remaining the same does not mean the mean/median and other summary stats would have to stay the same.) I believe that the American population data would be much more broad, different ages meaning much more different data than the one collected for this one. I think the shape would change as there is a variety within the population not just being based off players. Player's Weight Player's Height I—#—{ s ? i [ # e L p— i 3. Using the boxplots, which of the 3 quantitative data columns seems the most prone to outliers? Why do you think that is? The heights data seems most prone to outliers as there is a broader aspect in individuals height as they can differ by many centimeters. The have more room for decimal varieties.
