transition the students and to get them moving

Instructional Strategies
Give each student a set of shape flashcards
Play a shape recognition game where each student takes turns
holding up a flash card and the rest of the class names the shape.

Task
Introducing key vocabulary.
Take a ‘picture walk to look through
the pages and talk about what they see and think the story may be
about; when appropriate, have children make predictions about
what they think may be happening on a page

Give students blocks and have them create building using the
blocks
Plan for Transitions
I will play a song for students so that they can
transition to the
carpet for the beginning of the lesson, then I will have them go
back to their seats and build houses using blocks. I will also let the
students know that a triangle has three sides , a rectangle has 4
sides but two are the same length at the top and bottom and the
sides of the rectangle are the same length. Finally, I will let
students know that a square has the same length on each side.
