Geometry Written Problem Set 1
2,556 miles
Insert your cropped image here of your work for question 1a only.
Type your explanation of the process you used and to solve this problem and why:
We will be converting kilometers to miles using the conversion factors. We set up the
units with miles and cancel out the kilometers. We would then divide 4090 kilometer
over 1.6 kilometer to get the number of miles from New York to Los Angeles.
b.[3 pts]
If your car averages 31 miles per gallon, how many gallons of gas can
you expect to use driving from New York to Los Angeles? (You must use unit
fractions.
Round to one decimal place and be sure to include units.)
(Grade breakdown:
1 for set up/work; 1 for correct answer; 1 for reasoning)
Type your Answer:
82.5 gallons
Insert your cropped image here of your work for question 1b only.
Type your explanation of the process you used and to solve this problem and why:
Like the previous question, we will be converting miles to gallons. We would divide
2,556 miles over 31 miles to get the number of gallons expected to use driving from
