Hello, my name is Fanta, and I am excited to be back in action. This class was originally supposed to be Jan 8

, then it got pushed back to the

th
, and now it’s finally starting January 29
th
. I am ten classes away from my degree and I am hoping by the middle of the year I will narrow down what I want my master’s to be.
A little more about me I am a mother of three, my husband is out of state
working so I am a single parent till he gets back. I work full time at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, and I am a lab instructor at Brookline college for Medical Assisting. In my spare time if I have any, I love binge watching shows, and traveling when I can. I have six country concerts lined up for the year, and hopefully one jazz concert. Life is too short, so I try and live every day like it’s my last. I look forward to what this class has to offer and using whatever techniques and tools I gain and apply it to the real world. I feel the biggest challenge I will have is, trying to work two jobs, be a full time mom and give one hundred percent to my studies. There are enough hours in the day. Ever heard of that expression “you bit off more than you can chew.” Well, that’s me. I am looking forward to learning more about evaluating programs and practices, and I am excited to see how to apply it on a micro and macro level. I have knowledge on informed consent since I do this daily.
In 2019 during COVID many people lost their homes, accrued major debt, and lost loved ones. Moving into 2023 the US experienced their highest inflation yet, cost of food, gas and living increased by 4 %. (Arizona Central)
In my opinion I have seen social issues and systematic racism. How it impacts individuals especially the low-income communities and places of employment. Factors that contribute to this problem could be systemic discrimination, racial profiling, and wrongful convictions. Individuals in low-income communities weren’t given certain opportunities or tools to succeed in the world we live in. Lack of education and resources. A lack of education some have been faced with barriers to employment opportunities due to discrimination, lack of education, and aren’t able to secure proper employment. Due to circumstances some people have been discriminated due to a lack of education resulting in not finding employment which causes financial hardships.
A common maxim asserts that “knowledge is power.” If this saying is true, research should play a major role in decision making about the funding and organization of human services.”
Understanding how to help people change, change their habits and getting educated you can make a life altering change for people and the community. Interventions like providing resources to people can help them overcome obstacles and inadequate inequalities within the community. Regarding the license ASWB test these courses should provide a comprehensive understanding of knowledge, skills, and values. Understanding these topics can help you apply certain methods in the field. Getting through the exam and taking these courses can give you the knowledge to make a positive impact in your community.
