Good Afternoon All, According to (Lowe et al., 1993) Access, Quality and Cost are three elements to consider when evaluating healthcare reform. It is critical to assess how much the healthcare system's reform initiatives are saving consumers, providers, and insurer’s money on prescription drugs and medical services. For example, the United States' Affordable Care Act included several cost-saving measures. These measures included bringing down the price of preventive treatment, limiting cash out-of-pocket expenses, and enhancing the accessibility of generic medications. Analyzing how much more accessible health care is being made possible by reform initiatives is crucial, especially for underserved populations. This could entail expanding coverage for low-income individuals and families, improving access to primary care and preventative therapies, and offering financial incentives to physicians who choose to practice in underserved areas. Assessing the extent to which the health care system's reform initiatives are improving the quality and effectiveness of patient care is crucial. This could entail introducing new quality standards for healthcare providers, promoting the use of health information technology, and putting into practice medicines that are backed by data. Increasing access to high-quality medical treatments is, in my opinion, the most crucial goal in health care reform. This is so that everyone, regardless of financial situation, may obtain health care, which is a fundamental human right. Access to health care is currently severely hampered for many people, especially those living in low-income areas. These obstacles may cause patients to postpone or skip treatment, which would be detrimental to their health (National Academies Press (US), 1994b). Health care reform can improve general public health by guaranteeing that everyone can get the care they require when they require it by placing a high priority on access. Lowe, R. A., Young, G. Good Afternoon Drewe Thanks for sharing. Reducing health disparities across demographic groupings is critical in my opinion. The achievement of healthcare equity is necessary for addressing health inequities and fostering improved health outcomes for all people. One part of health reform is addressing the country's continually rising health-care expenses for people, families, and the government. It also discusses how people obtain health insurance and the benefits they receive. Reducing the number of persons who do not have health insurance and the benefits they receive. Reducing the number of uninsured persons will save healthcare expenses while also enhancing treatment standards. Improving equity begins with increasing access to the health-care system. Insurance coverage and cost have a significant impact on system access. Minority and low-income patients are more likely than their peers to be uninsured (Fiscella, 2011). . Fiscella, K. (2011). Health care reform and equity: promise, pitfalls, and prescriptions. Annals of Family Medicine , 9 (1), 78–84. https://doi.org/10.1370/afm.1213 The economy of the nation, the average per capita income spent on health care costs and expenditures, the structure of the insurance industry, government support for the health care sector, and research and development are all important factors that influence health reform in other nations. Providing fair access to healthcare services and addressing the social determinants of health are essential elements of this aim.\ Good afternoon Seema, Thanks for posting. According to ( Challenges for Health-Care Reform , n.d.), the first significant issue that healthcare reform needs to solve is access to care. Based on recent investigation, uninsured motorists are 37% more likely to die from their injuries and receive 20% less care in hospitals than insured drivers. However, I do agree, it’s important to reduce the healthcare cost in order to increase access to all
