Use the Anatomage table to learn more about the human heart, its structures, and its function. Note any differences there might be to the sheep heart. To start click on the TableEDU icon. Then click on the Functional anatomy icon. Then click on Cardiology. Pause the ECG. 1. Find and identify the following structures on the outside of the heart. While identifying these structures note how they are connected. Right and left ventricles Right and left auricle Right and left atrium Ascending aorta Aortic arch Descending aorta Superior vena cava Inferior vena cava Right and left pulmonary arteries Pulmonary trunk Right superior and inferior pulmonary veins Left superior and inferior pulmonary veins Brachiocephalic Left common carotid Left subclavian 2. Double click the right ventricle and then select the check box to remove it. Find the purkinje fibers. Double click on them and then click on the check box to remove them. Find the tricuspid valve, the pulmonary valve, and the chordae tendinae. To help with answering the following questions you can turn on blood flow in the ECG box by checking the blood flow box and then tapping play. Where did the blood just come from? Right atrium from RAV valve Where is the blood going? Pulmonary trunk through the pulmonary valve Is the blood oxygenated or deoxygenated in this chamber? Deoxygenated 3. Double click the left ventricle and then select the check box to remove it. Find the mitral valve, the aortic valve, and the chordae tendinae. Turn the ECG back on to watch as the valves open and close during each heartbeat. Pause the ECG. 5. Double click on the right atrium and then remove it with the check mark.
