Herbal medicine has a long-standing cultural origin and is widely used in a Traditional Medical System. It shows the safety, not the effectiveness of the treatments. Some traditional medicines have a root in religion, folklore or magical beliefs. Herbs themselves serve a variety of meanings and purposes in numerous contexts. It is synthesized and condensed based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences of various cultures and eras in order to diagnose, prevent, maintain, and improve health as well as treat illnesses. Herbs are natural products, so the chemical components they contain can change and vary depending on a number of different factors. And as a result of this change, the body's pharmacological activities have changed, resulting in adverse and side effects.

Cross-cultural comparison of one aspect from Question 3 above:
In Navajo medicine, herbs are used in the healing arts according to a different concept. The Navajo people use natural substances to bring balance and align the body with nature. Herbal medicine is the practice of using plants to cures illness, but it only shows safety, not their effectiveness of the treatments. According to research on the experimental effectiveness of substances used by indigenous healers, researchers have found that about 25% to 50% are effective.

The Qollahuaya also employed herbal remedies in their ritual to alleviate disruptions that caused sickness. According to the Qollahuaya concept, they classified various plant species based on how they affect the flow of bodily fluids and are used to help regulate the processes of fluid distillation, circulation, and elimination on bodily functions. Since so many people practice in various ways, which makes herbalism has a broader approach.
