Ponder and Act Instructions: Read and completely respond to the prompt below. Return and Report 1. Write a reflection paragraph of five-six sentences about the commitment that you were working to implement this week. Some ideas of what to include in this paragraph include writing about successes you had in keeping the commitment you made for this week, key strategies and ideas we learned about this week, or where you have seen changes in your life due to building more emotional strength in the Lord. I worked on using “I” statements with others. It was really hard to do at first because I had to really think about what I was going to say to others when we were talking, and I had to practice. As I kept doing this though I noticed that conflict was able to be resolved easier. It was also easier for me to see others and their needs instead of fighting back in the heat of the moment. I was able to take my time and think of what I said before I said it. I feel like as I was able to see others in a more loving way I was drawn closer to the Lord and gained strength from Him. 2. Write a commitment statement for next week about a strategy you learned this week or in a previous week that you will implement next week. Include an explanation of why you are choosing this commitment. I am going to work on patience this week. Sometimes when people are telling me their struggles, I give them my advice but if they do not listen I get really frustrated with them. I am going to try and do my best to not be offended if they do not take my advice and still be there for them through whatever it is they are struggling with. I think as I do this, I will be able to be more loving and accepting of others decisions. I also think it will help me love others as Christ does. 1
