Chapter 5 in the Book of Acts is intense. Peter asks a simple question to two people and because they “had been filled with Satan” and lied to the Lord, they gave up the ghost. To think about it in modern terms it would be like selling some land for the church and then keeping some of it for yourself. Then you would have President Nelson come and question you and if you lied then you would just die instantly. That is crazy. That would most certainly cause a stir in the church. That’s what happened in this instance too. There are so many stories in the Bible that just surprise you. It’s crazy. The gospel is a beautiful and wonderful thing. There are many aspects that can be confusing most certainly, but there is also a lot that shouldn’t be taken seriously. If someone makes fun of our baldness, we should not send three she bears after them. The main focus of the gospel is Jesus Christ and his atonement. If we strive to understand this principle more then everything else falls in place somewhere. It’s a beautiful thing to think about. Every time that I read through the scriptures, I learn something new and that is astonishing. I love every little thing that this gospel has to offer.
