2 This is an interview with Dr. David A. Watson, Pastor of Calvary Chapel in Staten Island, NY, for 33 years. He is the Founder and President of the New York Institute for Biblical Studies, the Protestant Chaplain at a local Nursing Home, and a Clergy Liaison for the local Police. Dr. Watson holds a Degree from World of Life in Schroon Lake, New York, a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University, a Master of Divinity Degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from New York Theological Seminary in NYC. Though younger than I, Dr. Watson has been my mentor and Advisor for many years. A Pentecostal Minister that preaches the Word of God and is beyond reproach. He is sought after by Pastors and church and community leaders for his unselfish dedication to the community. He is my friend; we share experiences and rely on each other’s confidentialities. Every Pastor and person in Ministry should have a ‘go-to’ person for counseling and Spiritual help; he is mine, which is why I selected him. 1. What do you know now about being a leader in the church that you did not realize when you first began? What difference could it have made in your ministry if you had known these things from the start of your ministry? Leadership is not a position. It is influencing people and leading them in the right direction. People follow a leader because they feel loved and spiritually nourished and that he loves God above all things. I should have dedicated more time to building trust and earning the trust of the community as well as the church. Disagree. I think a Pastor does hold a crucial leadership position within the church. He has been assigned to the church for spiritual guidance and pastoral care. The church is also the pastor’s primary concern and obligation; community and outside sources should
